GMU CPS Participates in the "Out of the Darkness" 5K

The GMU Center for Psychological Services was proud to raise almost $700 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in the past week.  Eight team members (and one dog) walked the Out of the Darkness 5K on Saturday, September 16th to help raise awareness for suicide prevention.  A resource table, staffed by CPS intake staff, was available at the walk to provide treatment options for anyone needing help.  “As an evidence-based center, we know that there are treatments that can help prevent suicide attempts, but we need everyone to be aware of the warning signs and speak up if you have concerns for a family member or friend,” stated Dr. Robyn Mehlenbeck, GMU CPS Director.  The Center is grateful for all the work done by the AFSP, and was honored to support this event & ongoing work.
