Group Therapy

Group Therapy

Group-based treatments can be a useful supplement to therapy received at our Center or elsewhere.

Clinicians will schedule intake sessions to meet with prospective clients to ensure that both the clinician and client believe the group would be a good fit for the client’s needs.

DBT for People Living with HIV

This DBT-informed group is specially tailored for people living with HIV. The group will begin to meet in April (day and time TBD) for approximately 14-15 weeks, depending on the needs of the group. You must be 18+ years old to participate.  Interested participants will be screened to ensure that treatment is appropriate for them. If you are interested in more information, please email us psycclin@gmu.edu, or call us at (703) 993-1370.

The DBT group incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills to help adults (18 years and older) cope with and manage intense emotions. The group meets on a weekly basis, and it takes about 24 weeks to complete all the skills modules included in the group's curriculum. All group members are required to have an individual therapist while participating in the group. The group runs continuously throughout the year and accepts new members in "rolling admissions". If you would like to be contacted regarding future openings, please contact the intake office to find out how you can be placed on the wait list.
